The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili made a comment on the incident that took place in Abkhazia yesterday

The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili went to Zugdidi late at night where he made a comment on Abkhazia, Russian-Georgian relations and parliamentary elections. Mikheil Saakashvili spoke with those journalists who came to Georgia to cover Parliamentary elections. According to Mikheil Saakashvili's statement this parliament will consist of more parties than the last four parliaments. New legislative body will represent many parties.

"The elections in general were held in more peaceful atmosphere than it was expected. The voting process was free and transparent; the international observers can prove it. Of course it is very good that the ruling party takes the victory, because in spite of the radical and painful reforms people still trusted us. We will continue the reform process by all means.

Now about Georgian-Abkhazian relations - recently people were shot because of crossing the borders and going to participate in elections. This is the most immoral, what could possibly happen - don't forget we live in 21 century. The lady, who is hospitalized at this moment, is the mother of three children. She is not given the right to let her children study Georgian at school and was almost killed because of going to vote. We open free economic zone, we will restore railway - to give people chance to move and integrate. This is the only alternative against violence. I believe, that the international community supports our position as well", stated the President of Georgia.
