Mikheil Saakashvili met the President of Israel Shimon Peres and the President of Poland Lekh Kachinski

The Preesident of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili met the President of Israel Shimon Peres during his visit to Israel on the Israel state 60th anniversary.

Later he met the President of Poland face-to-face. The meeting was closed. After the meeting was over the two presidents held the joint press conference, where Mikheil Saakashvili evaluated the events ongoing in Abkhazia as aggression.

"What now happens in Georgia can be evaluated as an aggression and nothing else. The concentration of military forces is taking place in Georgia right now and it breaks all kinds of rules. Military equipment is mobilized in Abkhazia and high-ranking Russian militaries say openly that they are ready to use military forces against Georgia. All this resembles a Bolshevik attack. This history should not be repeated", stated Mikheil Saakashvili.

President Lekh Kachinski stated that the situation in Abkhazia is a violation of international law, as he said Georgia is not alone and its sovereignty and territorial integrity is recognized by the Commonwealth of Nations. The President of Poland considers that the steps taken by Russia have no excuse.

"We have spoken about the recent events taking place in Abkhazia and we know that it is violation of international law. You can't break the sovereignty of a neighboring country and annexation of its territory is unacceptable. In this situation I want to raise an issue of NATO trust. You cannot promise a country to grant MAP in April and the same country faces a threat of losing one of its regions. In this case the effectiveness and reliability of this organization is under question", Lekh Kachinski stated.
