On March 2 President Mikheil Saakashvili met with the Georgian figure skater, participant of Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Elene Gedevanishvili. "I would have never imagined that I would see a Georgian skater in this kind of sport in the Olympic Games," President Saakashvili said, adding that the young skater was offered the Russian citizenship but she declined the offer. "Many Georgians could not resist this temptation and such a behavior of a young girl equals to heroism," the President said. 
Mikheil Saakashvili offered Elene to return to Georgia and also promised financial support.

Elene Gedevanishvili congratulated the President on the second son and presented him with St. George's icon.
