Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili today visited Aspindza District, in southwest Georgia. He toured wheat and potato fields at Vaios Veli and operated a tractor plough himself. The 850-hectare field was recently bought by a foreign investor.

Locals met the president with symbols from the Soviet Georgian film "Secretary of the District Committee" and expressed their hope that, in contrast with the film, the harvest would come already this year.

"Vaios Veli is a brilliant illustration of the fact that there is no place where work cannot be done," the president said.
