President Saakashvili congratulates veterans on Victory Day

Today, in the Victory Park, President Mikheil Saakashvili and other government officials laid flowers to a tomb of an unknown soldier to mark the 61 anniversary of victory over fascism.
President Saakashvili addressed the II world war veterans and congratulated them on the victory day.

The President talked bout strained Georgian-Russian relations and expressed his hope that soon Georgia will find a common language with Russia. He also blamed certain Russian political forces for having stained the relations between the two countries and stressed that these forces will never succeed if they continue using economic leverages against Georgia.

"All together we can find a common language, especially with Russia. We were fighting against fascism together; besides this we also have human bonds. Russia and Georgia are neighbors and we are destined to good-neighborly relations," President Saakashvili said.

Today Mikheil Saakashvili also visited "Tbilisi", a medical center, and congratulated the veterans who are being treated in the hospital on the 61 anniversary of victory over fascism. The President said that in the last decade treatment of the veterans was a major problem, while today the government fixed it and offered them free medical treatment.
