The President of Georgia discussed next year’s with the Parliament Majority

The President of Georgia met with the members of the Parliament Majority today. The 2012 budget, which the government has already submitted to Parliament for review, was the main topic of discussion during the meeting. According to Mikheil Saakashvili, next year’s budget focuses on the development and the economic growth of the country. The Head of State talked with the Parliament Majority about the plans and projects for next year. The President also drew attention to infrastructural projects – roads, tunnels and hydro electric power stations. He stressed that the 2012 budget envisions increasing pensions, developing the insurance system, especially implementing projects planned in the healthcare system for the socially unprotected, in order for the country to have a modern hospital structure.

The President of Georgia also stressed the necessity of regional development and noted that next year will be the year of developing a completely new tourism infrastructure. According to the President, a new resort is being built in Tetnuldi, completely new infrastructure is being built for Kakheti.  Special attention needs to be drawn to development of Borjomi and what is being done in Akhaltsikhe should be the biggest surprise for our society. Mikheil Saakashvili also touched on the issue of the ongoing projects, namely in Adjara, including Adjara mountain and ski resorts as well as development of Anaklia.

The President also noted that the first session of the Parliament in Kutaisi will take place on May 26, 2012 after which the highest legislative body of the country will finally be relocated to this city.

Mikheil Saakashvili stated that it is imperative to work harder in terms of attracting investors, at a time when their numbers are decreasing in the neighboring countries.

The President of Georgia also mentioned the importance of educating qualified specialists and creating technical schools, for which new teaching facilities should be opened as well as experience used. According to Mikheil Saakashvili, it is important that people of Georgia massively begin learning foreign languages, so that the members of every generation adjusts to the demands of the current job market.
