The President of Georgia toured the new church built in the center of Gurjaani. The Church of St. Georgia was built by request of the local population. Mikheil Saakashvili spoke to the Gurjaanians gathered at the church and congratulated them on the construction of the new church.

“People said thousands of types of nonsense as if this government is demolishing churches….Gurjaani, a city of such a large scale, has never had a church and we have built one. You probably saw the blessing of the Bagrati Church yesterday. We can feel the support of the Patriarchate and our main motivator are the people, who wanted to build this church, who will pray in this church, be strengthened by this church, and strengthen Georgia” – noted the President while talking to them.
