The President of Georgia opened a hotel complex and an agro-tourist center in Shuamta
The President of Georgia opened a new agro-tourist center and a hotel complex “Chateau Mere” in the Shuamta Village in the Kakheti Region today. The owner familiarized Mikheil Saakashvili with the novelties and services that he is going to offer guests of the complex. While in Shuamta, the President once again talked about the tourism potential of the Kakheti Region and the importance of such interesting attractions. According to him, the new projects implemented in Kakheti make the region more appealing for tourists.
“There is a large tourism potential in Kakheti, namely because of the climate, magnificent views, and local hospitality. This will be a world class complex and there is an opportunity to attract up to one million tourists per year to Kakheti.
We will implement a huge project very soon here. We are planning to host large festivals next spring and fall. We must do everything possible in order to attract Georgian and foreign tourists to enjoy the incredible views, the best food and most importantly, the unique tradition of Georgian hospitality. Here is the greatest tourism potential in Georgia today” – noted the President, who also drew attention to the importance of the new Gombori road. The Minister of Agriculture accompanied the President in Kakheti today. While tasting wine in the cellar, the President praised the newly-appointed Minister for working actively in the direction of exporting wine to foreign markets. “Exporting has increased from 600 thousand to 7.8 million bottles of wine to the Ukrainian market. The Polish market is 2-3 times larger and their attitude towards Georgia is the same, so practically, anything is possible.” – noted Mikheil Saakashvili and he expressed hope that the tourists will like the unique quality Georgian wine, because very soon there may not be much of it left.
“Georgian wine is the identity of our culture. The owner of this complex is doing a great job and he is the greatest innovator in this sphere” –stated the President. The hotel complex “Chateau Mere” was built solely through Georgian investments. It consists of a 15 room hotel, a wine cellar and a stable. The guests of the complex will have a chance to take tours on horseback, riding on Arabian horses. They will also have the opportunity to witness the winemaking process and taste the wine made right in front of them.”
