The President of Georgia visited a newly-built school in Melaani

The President of Georgia opened a newly-built school in the village of Melaani today. The school is in compliance with international standards and is designed to accommodate 200 students. Students will have the opportunity to use modern natural science and computer labs, a library, and civil, defense and security classrooms. The school also has a classroom for English language, where foreign instructors will teach within the scope of the program "Teach and learn with Georgia".  There are currently 160 students at the Melaani School as well as 28 instructors employed.  Mikheil Saakashvili will host teachers, who are participating in the program "Teach and learn with Georgia," in the vintage today.

Another program of the Ministry of Education and Science, which became functional in September, envisions intensive teaching of the Georgian language to ethnic minorities and sending instructors to public schools of Samtskhe Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti accordingly.

Anyone with a bachelor's degree, whose native language is Georgian, can also join the project. Whoever decides to study at Master's level after teaching for one year in an area populated with ethnic minorities, will receive 100 % of the funding from the Government of Georgia.

500 participants will join the program during the 2011-2012 school year.
