Today at the State Chancellery President Mikheil Saakashvili held a working meeting with the Head of Administration of the President Giorgi Arveladze, Minister of Agriculture Mikheil Svimonishvili and Deputy Head of the Georgian Railway to discuss a decision of the Department of the Georgian Railway to abolish Ozurgeti-Batumi railway line. 
"This train is the only means for most of the people living in Guria to take products out from the rural area. People in Guria are very hard up and we should take it into consideration. We are dealing with live people. I did not solemnly open this line just because you could secretly close it. My request is to subsidize those lines which have social importance and on which impoverished people depend and increase tariffs on other lines. Just because of your decision we will not kill our people with hunger," President Saakashvili said.
