On January 25, 2012, the First Lady of Georgia, Sandra E. Roelofs visited Tbilisi State University and officially announced her initiation to set up a social work study grant for students. Grants will have three categories - gold, silver and bronze and will be given to 6 undergraduate and master’s students of Tbilisi State and Ilia State Universities.

The First Lady’s initiative will be implemented with assistance by the Chinese company HUAWEI, operating in Georgia. With this endeavor, Mrs. Roelofs intends to bring attention to the much needed and valuable profession of social worker which is so important for the well-functioning of a society.
