The President of Georgia toured a furniture factory in Khelvachauri

Mikheil Saakashvili visited a furniture factory in Gonio today. The President learned about the production conditions on site and spoke to managers of the factory. According to the Head of State’s statement, it is important that business develops and local people are employed at the factory.  Mikheil Saakashvili expressed interest in the quality of the furniture and focused attention on development prospects of the factory.

“This factory lit up my heart. It produces the best furniture and most importantly, it is designed with style. As far as I know you are going to have a separate facility which will bring materials from abroad. This will be implemented by an American investment but it will employ Georgians. A while ago, Georgians from Miami attended my lecture in Washington and they said that they are going to invest in Georgia. Levan Varshalomidze approached them and made them interested in investing because this country bears big investment prospects. As of qualification, we are raising it rapidly, and we should employ our people accordingly. This was a tea factory workers’ neighborhood in the past, but people have a lot of problems here. Batumi is being built rapidly now, but if people do not benefit from it then nothing will have meaning. This is why we should help people of the least means. And the best social program for them now is employment. “– stated the President of Georgia.

The furniture factory was built by an Azeri investment, and it produces household and soft furniture. It employs up to 100 local people. The factory already has orders in Georgia and abroad. The company also has a branch in Dubai.

The factory is currently working on the order of the “Orbi Group.” The hotel complex, the construction of which was opened by the President of Georgia today, will be accommodated by furniture produced in the above mentioned factory.
