The President of Georgia made a comparison between the foreign policies of the USA and Russia

While meeting with excelling students and teachers, the President of Georgia spoke about the results of Hillary Clinton’s visit to Georgia and noted that this was a very important event for the country. The Head of State also focused attention on issues of foreign policy and made a comparison between the USA and Russia in this regard.

“People often say that the United States and Russia are the same. How are they the same? America says that we should create an army and our territories must be freed – what Russia opposes. The USA says that there should be freedom and democracy in Georgia and the country must develop. Next year, the USA is investing tens of millions of dollars in Georgian schools. We will add a sum to this money in order to turn every school into a school that will amaze even the Europeans. Most importantly, this country does not force anything on us. We have autonomy in terms of foreign policy and despite the fact that most of our positions on issues overlap, it never writes what we should do. America has recognized the independence of Kosovo but Georgia has not. They have never forced us to do it. We think that in terms of international law and considering our situation, recognizing Kosovo’s independence was not a right decision. Unlike Russia, the USA gives an opportunity for you to have your own freedom, your own policies, and make your own decisions. The most important thing is that it wants you to be successful and developed” – stated the President of Georgia.
