The President of Georgia toured the Batumi districts under construction

The President of Georgia toured the Batumi Districts where rehabilitation works are going on along with Levan Varshalomidze, and the candidate for Majoritarian Deputy from Batumi Gia Baramidze.  Mikheil Saakashvili visited places where new projects are being implemented, including the new boulevard and several buildings.

“We decided today to visit not only the places which the entire world knows about, but the places where television cameras do not reach, and the places which are very important for each Batumian. Let’s tour together whatever is being rehabilitated and will be built soon. Levan has come up with an incredible thing. This is a new maintenance building, which is being created with the most modern technologies in Europe. This will change the life of Batumians completely. A sewage sanitation system is being developed here which will also clean a part of the sea which is very important. There are places here which you cannot find anywhere in Georgia or France. We are beginning construction of a stadium, which Batumi didn’t have. We can build 30-40 new hotels once the boulevard is lengthened by 7 kilometers. I thought this new boulevard was a figment of Levan’s imagination and creativity, but what he is doing now will be one of the longest and most beautiful places in the world. We have created so much public space here that I haven’t heard of a precedent. Everything is being done for the people and not for private interests. What is being done here, none of the previous governments have done. The fact that Levan has moved state buildings to the outer city is also very good. Everything had to be near the sea by Soviet principles. Development has reached inner districts of Batumi with the initiative of Levan, just like moving the Parliament to Kutaisi on our part, in order to develop the region.” – stated the President of Georgia.

The Head of State later spoke about the gasification process of Batumi. He personally received information from the population that he met in several districts of the city. According to Gia Baramidze’s statement, since turning the gasification bill into installments, accelerating the process is the only problem that remains unsolved. He plans to negotiate with representatives of “Socar” regarding the addition of work groups on site. He also focused attention on the barrack type housing while meeting with the local population. The President and the candidate for Majoritarian Deputy promised the local residents that Batumi will be free of barracks in several years.

Later today, the President of Georgia personally introduced Giorgi Baramidze as the candidate for Majoritarian Deputy of from the United National Movement, to the population of Batumi. Mikheil Saakashvili addressed the local population, spoke to them about the ongoing large scale projects in the city, and stressed that the part of Batumi that still has not gone through rehabilitation will be rebuilt in the next four years. The Head of State also focused attention on the employment problem, which is one of the top priorities of the government. According to him, Batumi is a city of youth and hope, a business card of Georgia and the main pride of each citizen.

The meeting with local residents was held at the summer theater, which is currently under construction.
