The President of Georgia held official meetings in Azerbaijan
The President of Georgia met with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizade within the scope of the official visit to Azerbaijan. Deepening cooperation even more and bilateral relations were the main topics of discussion. The sides discussed the implementation of projects which was decided during the meeting of the Presidents. Mikheil Saakashvili and Artur Rasizade also touched on the process of the ongoing processes.
The President of Georgia held the next meeting with the Chairman of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan. Ogtai Asadov drew attention to the friendship of the two countries and noted that the relationship between Georgia and Azerbaijan is exemplary for all other countries.
“I think that your parliamentary diplomacy is very effective, especially in regard to recent years, when the matter was overly delicate. Your parliamentarians held a very firm position, which ordinary diplomats would not have been able to do. This proves once again how important the function of the legislature is for the future of the country and for national politics. This is the basis of our long term relationship, between governments as much as between the legislatures and committees” – stated Mikheil Saakashvili.
After the end of the meeting, the President of Georgia addressed the members of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan from its platform. During his address, he focused attention on the historic, cultural, and cordial ties between the two countries. He also discussed the close partnership, ongoing and planned projects, new initiatives of Georgia and regional development in general. As Mikheil Saakashvili noted, strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations has a vital significance.
The official visit of the President of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan ended today.
