The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili met the Chairman of the Supreme Court Kote Kublashvili
The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili met the Chairman of the Supreme Court Kote Kublashvili. Mikheil Saakashvili listened to the information given by Kote Kublashvili on the ongoing judiciary reform.
Due to the statement made by Mikhael Saakashvili the main center of the second wave of democratic reforms will be the Judicial Branch of Authorities. Georgia achieved what most Eastern European countries have not got - there is practically no bribing in Georgia's Court system and corruption is reduced significantly.
"There is a sense in the society that a judge knows his verdict in advance; or verdicts are ordered to judges - this should end soon.", Mikheil Saakashvili stated.
According to Mikheil Saakashvili's statement many people who will oversee the system, among them representatives of the opposition. The Judge must be given more warranties of security and this way they will be more protected. He added that trust to the Court system will be increased by endorsing the Institute of Juries - "the Judge must not be afraid of just verdicts", stated the President of Georgia.
