The President of Georgia visited schools of Telavi and Shibliani
The President of Georgia visited the Shibliani Village in the Sagarejo area today. Mikheil Saakashvili arrived at the new school and congratulated students on the beginning of the academic year. The President toured the school building and noted that similar schools should be in every village of Georgia. According to him, the students will have a motivation to study better and taking exams will be simpler for them here. Mikheil Saakashvili attended the first lessons of the new Shibliani School with the Minister of Education and Science, and spoke to students.
“No village should have an unorganized school. It is imperative that every school has a modern heating system and sports fields and arenas” – noted the President.
The Head of State also congratulated the students of Telavi Public School on the beginning of the new academic year. The President visited the “classroom of future” equipped with ultramodern technology and spoke with teachers. According to the President, the school renovation process is going on rapidly.
“We are not only fixing facades in Telavi. We have declared this year as a year of rehabilitating Kakheti, and the most important thing is that roads are good, facades are good, and we have the best modern buildings…the city was practically rebuilt. Education and healthcare are also priorities. That is why beginning next year every school in Georgia will be similar to this one. The best hospitals and clinics are built here. We are not only fixing central streets, but peripheries as well. We have rehabilitated over 100 schools in Georgia this year, but we need to add 700-800 more every year. I was also told that many people have passed certification exams here [there are 18 certified teachers at the school] exams will be held again in January and this is how things are going to be; it’s an ordinary process. In the end, the vast majority of teachers will pass these exams and you will have more motivation to improve. I know that this place has a great staff and it is a very good school. This is how it should be. Telavi is becoming the best city” – stated Mikheil Saakashvili while talking to them.
