The President of Georgia visited a refrigeration business in Poti
Mikheil Saakashvili visited a refrigeration business - "Iceberg Poti" in Poti and inspected the company's working processes. The President of Georgia talked with the onsite staff and noted that in order to create more jobs many such facilities should be built. "Iceberg Poti" provides protection and transit of cargo from Europe, Asia and America.
"Poti should become a multifunctional city, where various warehouses will be built. The construction of the Airport will assist in theprocess increasing the functionality of the city." - noted Mikheil Saakashvili.
There are 80 people employed in the company, including refugees. The President expressed interest in their working conditions and stated that employment of refugees is one of the priorities of the government.
"We initially provided the refugees with housing. Now, some of them already have jobs. I am sure all will be employed soon. Werelocated these people from places where there wouldn't be any job prospects for several years. We relocated them to a central place, where there are employment opportunities. This is a sensible public policy, not just aid, but we brought them here, built good houses for them, and employed them. The same process is underway in Batumi. In fact, the state exists in order to help people create their future based on their interests. " - noted the President of Georgia.
Along with the Head of State, the Minister of Economic Development - Vera Kobalia and The Governor of Samegrelo -Zemo Svaneti Region - Zaza Gorozia visited the warehouse.
The "Iceberg Poti" Company has invested 8 million USD in this project. According to the managers of the company, the advantageous location of Poti and the simplicity of the Georgian revenue system, makes doing business easier.
