Nino Burjanadze attends action - “My First Vote”

Acting president Nino Burjanadze attended an action at Kote Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre dedicated to the presidential elections. The event was also attended by young people that will vote for the first time this year.

"The future of Georgia depends on your vote, and you should acknowledge the responsibility towards the country. Every person who goes to the elections, decreases the possibility of the elections rigging, ensures its transparency and fairness. It is up to the elections to decide what the country's future would look like," she Nino Burjanadze.

Acting president talked about the importance of pursuing democratic principles during the pre-election campaign and the culture of debates. She said that criticism of political programs and not of personal traits, was absolutely permissible. Nino Burjanadze also touched upon the importance of post election period.

"Any political spectrum should respect results of democratic and transparent elections, no matter who wins. We, the politician, and you, the voters should once and for all make it as a rule in Georgia. This is a guarantee for Georgia's stability and better future," said Nino Burjanadze.

The event at the Drama Theatre was also attended by Chairman of Central Election Commission Levan Tarkhnishvili and U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Tefft.
