Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili today hosted a charity dinner at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Tbilisi whose proceeds will go to restoration works on the house-museum of 19th century Georgian statesman and writer Ilia Chavchavadze in Qvareli. The dinner, held on the 170th anniversary of Chavchavadze's birth, was attended by local business people, who donated a total of 164,000 dollars to the cause.

In an address to the dinner, President Saakashvili said that each of the donors had made a great contribution to efforts to preserve Georgia's cultural heritage for future generations.
