"Considering the latest developments in Georgia, I deemed it necessary to hold meetings with the NATO Secretary General and the President of the European Parliament. It is very important that our friends received detailed and objective information about the situation in Georgia. I hope that informing international community will bring about concrete positive results. At the meeting with NATO Secretary General it has been reconfirmed that Georgia has the serious support of NATO that will also continue in the future. Particular activeness and attention is required form the international community before democratic and transparent elections are held in Georgia and before the country returns to its normal state of development.
I think that it was of crucial importance for the European Parliament to receive additional information about the latest developments in Georgia. The great interest that our foreign colleagues demonstrate towards Georgia has to be underscored. They expect that democratic elections will be held in Georgia. Both, the government and me will do everything to ensure that no one questions the democracy of elections," stated Nino Burjanadze.
