The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili visits Samegrelo Region

The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili visited the Samegrelo region today. He visited the newly built resource-center in Zugdidi, where he first met the teachers and afterwards held a meeting with the chiefs of regional administrations and the heads of city councils. Mikheil Saakashvili got familiarized with their problems and tasked the local government to solve their problems. The reconstruction of roads, incensement of salaries, issuing additional buses for schools, the construction and reconstruction of the school gymnasiums and sport-fields, the computerization of schools and the removal of the lottery system in schools - these are the problems, which the teachers asked Mikheil Saakashvili to solve. The President of Georgia promised them to solve their problems. Teachers will go through the attestation after receiving sufficient manuals and training. "Our very first mission is to establish the minimum income 200 Lari for teachers. Also the topic of teacher's attestation, that was planned to be held in 2008, needs to be reconsidered. We stopped this process and postponed it for 2009. I received many letters from the teachers; their attitude towards attestation was quite critical. I would like to know your considerations, do we need the attestation at all, or maybe you have some other plans? - Tell me directly and I will my answer will be direct as well" - stated the President of Georgia.
