The Press Speaker of the President of Georgia made a statement regarding the premature recall of the Head of the EU Observer Mission

“It is unfortunate that we have to make this statement because of inactivity of the current government of Georgia: Head of the EU Observer Mission in Georgia a retired Polish General, Andjei Tishkevich is leaving his post prematurely.

General Tishkevich has been distinguished by his objective and principal position since his appointment in 2011, which was very unacceptable for the Russian government. It must be said that Abkhazia even declared him as Persona Non-Grate for demonstrating their démarche . Despite the Russian government’s ultimatum, the previous government of Georgia refused to recall him and satisfy Russia’s demand.

It is very unfortunate and at the same time strange that General Tishkevich was recalled before the end of his mission. We think this would not have happened if not for lack of principals of the current government.

We once again call on the government of Georgia to have a principal position on all the details of issues related to the occupied regions because it is vital to the de-occupation process. On the other hand, we have that the next Head of the EU Observer Mission will honorable continue General Tishkevich’s work” – noted Manana Manjgaladze.
