The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili hosted Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu at the President's Palace. Sides discussed issues of strengthening bilateral relations between two countries; specifically they stressed their attention on regional security, economic projects and on the simplification of border crossing procedures. It was decided that starting from May it would be possible to cross Turkish-Georgian border on the basis of passport or ID card without getting out of car. Ahmet Davutoglu that visited Batumi before visiting Tbilisi focused on the development of Black Sea Cost city and on changes fulfilled there. As he pointed out is several years Batumi would become economic center, free trade zone, cultural and tourism place.

Mikheil Saakashvili spoke with the first Diplomat of Turkey on the idea of creating united Caucasus. As he said opened borders represent important perspective for Caucasian people not only from the cultural and historic point of view, but for strengthening human relations as well.

"Batumi became an economic center not for Georgia only, but for the whole Black Sea region. Georgia must become the major economic connecting point for the whole Black Sea region for the whole Central Asia and Caspian region, among them of course for Turkey. Turkey turned not only into an economically growing country, but into a standard of innovations, where the modern technologies and innovations are being implemented successfully.

The fact that we are opening borders is a very good example for the other

countries within the region. I wish united Caucasus to exist. We shared this idea with our Azerbaijani and Armenian friends as well. We still have a long way until the fulfillment of this idea, but this is a very good step forward", the President of Georgia noted.
