The President of Georgia visited Mestia
The President visited Svaneti today. First of all Mikheil Saakashvili inspected the Zugdidi - Mestia road which was constructed in the last 2 years. The President sat behind the wheel of a car and drove 139 kilometers along with the Minister of Economy -Vera Kobalia and the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure - Ramaz Nikolaishvili. The asphalt and concrete surfaces of the road were paved and two tunnels were built during the road rehabilitation process.
The President opened the new 30 meter-long bridge, connecting two parts of Mestia, which was designed by a German architectMeier. Mikheil Saakshvili later visited the new hostel type hotel which has 8 rooms and can lodge 46 guests.
Mikheil Saakashvili also attended the opening of the Mestia Police building, which is equipped with modern technologies and is in compliance with modern standards and will serve the entire region.
Another Palace of Justice was opened in Mestia today, which is the third one in the country and has unique architecture. The building was designed by a renowned German architect Jürgen Meier, while the American company "Centeo" worked on its interior design.
Along with the President the event was attended by the Minister of Justice - Zurab Adeishviil, and the representatives of the legislative, executive, judicial bodies, diplomatic corps, and international organizations as well as the citizens of Mestia. The President gave a speech at the presentation of the Palace of Justice and congratulated the audience on this day.
All Agencies of the Ministry of Justice including the regional prosecutor's office will be located in the Palace of Justice. The population of Svaneti will have a chance to get all the services of Civil Registry and National Agency of Public Registry in the same building. The wedding house will also be located in the Palace of Justice.
The President of Georgia also walked in the streets of Mestia and talked with the local population. Various sport events were held for the guests of Svaneti at "Hatsvali" Mountain. Mikheil Saakashvili will later taste the local dishes.
Today will end with fireworks and a concert in Svaneti, with participation of the representatives of Georgian show-business.
