The President of Georgia held an emergency National Security Council session
An Emergency National Security Council session was held at the Presidential Palace led by the President of Georgia today. Relocation of the occupation line in Shida Kartli and the current situation in the occupied regions and surrounding areas were the main topics of discussion. Participants of the session also spoke about issues related to the non-recognition policy of the occupied regions.
Mikheil Saakashvili positively assessed the fact that after a certain pause the National Security Session was held, and members of government participated in it. He focused attention on the importance of such gatherings and noted that this format will give an opportunity to every branch of government, and every political force to discuss the ways of dealing with challenges of Georgia related to security.
The National Security Council session continued behind closed doors. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Irakli Garibashvili informed the President about the current situation in the occupied regions.
The following persons participated in the National Security Council session: Chairman of the National Security Council of Georgia Giga Bokerya, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Davit Usupashvili, Leaders of Parliamentary Minority David Bakradze and Giorgi Baramidze, Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia Nodar Khaduri, Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia Tamar Karosanidze, Minister of Reintegration Issue of Georgia Paata Zakareishvili, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkanian, Mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava, Deputy Chairs of the National Security Council Tamar Kintsurashvili and Batu Kutelia as well as the Head of the Administration of the President of Georgia Andro Barnovi.
