The President of Georgia attended the liturgy in the name of the souls of the deceased at the Auschwitz concentration camp today, which was held by Archimandrite Adam. Later today, Georgian and Polish Bishops held a liturgy in the name of soul of Saint Grigol Peradze – 70 years have passed since the passing of Archimandrite Grigol Peradze.
After the end of ceremony, the President once again recalled Grigol Peradze’s spiritual and societal merits. As the President noted, Archimandrite Grigol Peradze was a great Georgian spiritual and public figure, who became a symbol of education, freedom and peace for Georgians.
Mikheil Saakashvili focused attention on the main messages Grigol Peradze left to his nation. It’s Georgia’s special and important role in the regions; necessity of dialogue between religious and attitude towards the Muslim world. According to the Head of State, he is the axis of unity for the Caucasus and the idea of a united Caucasus was coined by him.
