The President of Georgia expressed sorrow regarding the construction accidents
The President of Georgia strictly demanded raising the norms of safety at construction sites and noted that people should not feel safety threats at work. The President of Georgia expressed sorrow because of the tragedy that happened to two persons during construction accidents. One of them lost his life during the collapse of a building near the Parliament and the other during the construction of one of the buildings in the territory of the first clinical (Aramiants) hospital of Tbilisi.
“I am very worried about these issues. Such a large scale construction has never happened in Georgia. This is happening in the background of unemployment and idleness for many years and I approach this issue very carefully. On one hand, we have to build everything rapidly, but on the other hand, I was calling Ramaz Nikolaishvili daily and telling him to watch the safety norms in the last week of the Parliament construction. Ramaz was overlooking the Parliament construction process, but he cannot be present, in person, everywhere. I saw what happened at the hospital yesterday. The lighting and other rules were not followed at the construction site, which made me very angry. Every person, who was responsible for the safety of workers at that location, must be tried legally. Nothing is more valuable than human life and no person’s life should be at risk. Technical education centers are being developed so that we have highly qualified specialists, and such things do not happen anymore” – stated Mikheil Saakashvili.
