The President of Georgia attended a football match between Georgia and the Netherlands
The President of Georgia attended a football match between Georgia and the Netherlands within the scope of the European Championship below the age of 17. Despite the fact that the match ended with a victory by the Dutch players, Mikheil Saakashvili encouraged the Georgian players and wished them future successes.
“I went up to our players after the match and calmed them down… all of them were depressed. I recalled the match, which Dinamo Tbilisi lost by one goal in England against Liverpool. The older fans probably remember this match well. Back then, everybody was sure that the series of winning games would begin after that match. There are loses after which you realize that it is time to win. This generation of Georgian football players will be the best. They played with 10 players against the Netherlands and they played better than expected. These guys do not have a psychology of being defeated. I think that in the past our main problem was that our players were in fear of everything. The new generation does not have it in any direction. The new generation has a new mentality and a different thinking in terms of quality. It is obvious in football as well as other spheres” – stated the President of Georgia.
The Head of State supported the national team of Georgia with football veterans.
