President Mikheil Saakashvili on September 27, the day when in 1993 the Abkhaz capital Sokhumi fell, called on Abkhazia for reconciliation.

"Both Abkhazians and Georgians were defeated in the Abkhaz war [1992-93]. For the first time after so many years the separatist government in Sokhumi made a decision not to mark September 27 with a military parade. Our common victory would be the time when, we together with the Abkhazians, mark a day of our reconciliation in Sokhumi. It will be a real celebration," President Saakashvili said.
