Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili visits Khulo District in Ajaria

Today Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili visited in Khulo District, in western Ajaria, where he opened a sports school designed for 250 children and a renovated sewing workshop. The president said that the new facility would employ many residents of Khulo, which for years has been plagued by a lack of jobs.
"This is truly a miracle for this area because not one person in Khulo District has been employed since Georgia regained its independence. Today we opened a factory that will put 1,000 people to work this year. This means that here, in Ajaria's most beautiful but most neglected place, the problem of unemployment will, effectively, be completely resolved. This is a model that must be applied in other parts of Georgia. Georgians know how to work and we have the talent and desire necessary to better develop our skills.

"Sewing businesses are coming from Romania and other European countries right here to Georgia. Now the main thing is to show initiative. Together with us is the British citizen who organized this project; a group of people from the Netherlands also showed initiative in Tbilisi and similar projects are under way in Terjola, in Khelvachauri and Kutaisi. It will be possible to employ tens and hundreds of thousands of Georgians in these businesses alone," President Saakashvili said.
