The President of Georgia visited Bakhmaro
The President of Georgia visited Guria and toured the construction works within the scope of the Bakhmaro Development Project. Mikheil Saakashvili focused attention on the importance of Bakhmaro as a resort and the necessity of developing infrastructure. The President received information about the works from the Governor personally. According to Mikheil Saakashvili, the region has a fairly big potential in terms of tourism and employing the population. The Head of State also spoke about the projects planned in the region and noted that very soon Bakhmaro will become one of the best resorts of Georgia.
“Bakhmaro has a very good and necessary climate for children. Internal roads of Bakhmaro as well as the road connecting to Chokhatauri are being fixed. We should also fix the Mamati road detouring to several villages.
Bakhmaro is a treasure of a mountain resort. I think that only Mestia and Bakuriani are similar to it in Georgia.
When people come here they will no longer recognize this place. First of all, the road will be great – I know how much trouble people go through to come up here. Everything will be rehabilitated here. This year Guria will have a new boulevard in Ureki and Bakhmaro will be a holiday paradise for children. A unified resort complex will appear in Guria” – noted the Head of State.
The state has allocated 1 million GEL for the Bakhmaro Development Program, which envisions building a 15 bed modern standard hotel along with other projects in the center of Bakhmaro. The nearby territory will also be well accommodated; there will be a new amphitheater type cinema designed for 100 viewers; sports fields will be built. It is also planned to build a new supermarket, a drugstore, and a walkway in the center of Bakhmaro. The central highway from Chokatauri to Bakhmaro as well as internal roads of Bakhmaro will be fixed within the scope of the development plan. The rehabilitation works are already underway.
