The President of Georgia hosted French professors and first students of the Wine School in Kvareli

Mikheil Saakashvili hosted French professors and the students who were selected as a result of a competition, in his Kvareli house. The President had the guests taste two types of wine made from the grapes in his own vineyard – “Rkatsiteli” and “Saperavi.” The foreign experts focused special attention on the “Rkatsiteli” type. The experts, including one of the top specialists, Allen Blais, noted that the special taste of Georgian wine is a result of the local environment, different breeds of grapes as well as special winemaking methods. The guests were also impressed by the wine cellar technology.

The students who will have their first lesson next week also tasted the wine made by the President. The 35 best students have been selected to study in this school out of 2500 applicants. Mikheil Saakashvili also spoke with them about the importance of the wine school. According to him, the large number of applications is an indication of the fact that our youth has a special interest in this sphere. The President expressed hope that the International Wine Institute will have more students from every region of Georgia to learn modern wine making technologies in the future.

A special bus will be assigned to serve the selected applicants, because they live indifferent parts of Kakheti
