Today President Mikheil Saakashvili visited Natakhtari in Kartli region where building of the first section [Natakhtari-Aghaiani] of Tbilisi-Senaki [Samegrelo region]-Leselidze [breakaway Abkhazia] highway started. 
According to President Saakashvili such a wide-scale roads construction is taking place for the first time in the history of independent Georgia and soon this road will connect Tbilisi with Tskhinvali and later with Sokhumi. 

"I claim building of Tbilisi-Tskhinvali-Sokhumi highway open. In 2008 this highway will lead us to Tskhinvali and in 2010, not later than in the beginning of 2011, this road will take us to Sokhumi, however, we plan to arrive in Sokhumi much sooner," President Saakashvili said. 

Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze highway will be built with a different technology; its surface will be much solid and will have 40 years warranty.
