Traditional Briefing of the Press Speaker of the President of Georgia

The Press Speaker of the President of Georgia summarized the important events of the past week during the traditional press briefing today. Manana Manjgaladze focused on the projects of the Government of Georgia, which are related to improvement of the living conditions of the refugees. As the Press Speaker noted, the project consisting of 32 buildings  -“New neighborhood” has already been opened in Poti. According to Manana Manjgaladze, the space previously owned by the government was given to 28 thousand families. The refugees who had been living in the houses of others or in dangerous areas have moved into the newly built houses.

“At this stage the government will pursue new directions in terms of the refugees. Specifically, employment opportunities, meaning a new challenge for the government of Georgia” – added the Press Speaker.

Additionally, According to Manana Manjgaladze, similar houses will soon be built in Batumi, Tskaltubo and Zugdidi.

The Press Speaker of the President also talked about foreign relations and noted that the US Deputy Secretary of State – William Burns is planning to visit Tbilisi.

“There is a broad spectrum of issues to be discussed between the partner countries: regional problems, reforms, security and economic issues. Aside from this, the NATO Secretary General – Anders Fogh Rasmussen is going to visit Georgia at the beginning of November. Along with the government meetings he will participate in a large forum. The session of the North Atlantic Council, which will be attended by 28 ambassadors of NATO Member States, is also scheduled.” – stated Manana Manjgaladze.

In addition to this, according to the Press Speaker of the President of Georgia, the Minister of Foreign Relations of Estonia will visit Georgia today and the President of the Republic of Armenia will arrive in Tbilisi at the beginning of November.
