The President of Georgia decorated the member of European Parliament – Krzysztof Lisek with the Victory Order of Saint George for his special support and backing of the Georgian state and his personal contribution in the process of strengthening cooperation between Georgia and the European Union.

According to the statement of Mikheil Saakashvili, the resolution passed by the European Parliament is very important for Georgia. As he noted, the document expresses the historical truth and the prospect of the membership of Georgia into the European Union. According to the President, the most important thing is that the resolution uses the terms “occupation” and “ethnic cleansing.” The President also noted that, this is the continuance of Georgian-Polish relations and the result of the joint fight of Georgian and Polish heroes.

In his turn, Krzysztof Lisek thanked the President of Georgia for the decoration. According to him, he is the representative of 93% of the European Parliament, which supported the resolution. As he noted, there will be a time when he will have Georgian colleagues in the European Parliament.
