The President of Georgia attended the funeral ceremony today of the Georgian soldier Gela Tigishvili, fallen during the 2008 Russian aggression in Kaspi, with the Minister of Defense. Mikheil Saakashvili personally extended condolences to his family and promised support.

During the funeral ceremony, the Honorable Guard of Georgia honored the memory of the soldier deceased as a result of Russian aggression in 2008, with a special gunshot salute.

Master Sergeant Gela Tigishvili, was missing in action until now, and his remains were identified as a result of a DNA test. Gela Tigishvili had been serving in the Georgian Armed Forces since 2006. He was awarded with the medal “Devoted to His Country”, and the First Degree Order of Vakhtang Gorgasali.
