The President of Georgia visited the family affected by flood in Tsalenjikha

The President of Georgia visited the 4 member family of Tengiz Kutalia in Tsalenjikha, at the Obuji Village. Mikheil Saakashvili expressed interest in the problems of the family and spoke about ways of solving them. Tengiz Kutelia’s family was left homeless as a result of a landslide caused by a recent flood. Based on the commission’s assessment, the house was not fixable so the state bought a two story house for their family in Tsalenjikha.

“We have fixed a lot of houses in your village, but two of them could not be fixed. We have the same situation in Kakheti, where fixing several houses is impossible. This is why we should take care maximally of the families affected the most by the disaster in Kakheti, Samegrelo, and everywhere else so that they do not stay homeless. Many opportunities will soon emerge in Samegrelo in terms of employment, infrastructure, and economic activity. This house was given to you by the state because no person should stay defenseless in Georgia. Additionally, this is a sign of hope for everyone. Everyone should believe that the state will take care of them. The most important thing is that the river did not wash us away. And now everything will be all right. After the disaster I couldn’t help stopping by and seeing how you are. I had all the attention directed at Kakheti these days. A huge scale catastrophe has happened. The likes of which, nobody has seen. If this had happened while under communism in the 90s, Kakheti would stay ruined and the people exiled from there. Thank God we have a minimal amount of resources and a government that can work around the clock to restore everything. Your situation is in the same category. It is overly important that nobody feels abandoned in Samegrelo, Kakheti, Guria or any other region when something like this happens” – noted Mikheil Saakashvili while talking to them.

The flood took place in Samegrelo on June 29, during which bridges, communications, agricultural lands, and storages of the locals were destroyed. Mikheil Saakashvili ordered the government to calculate the damage and assist the local residents.

A new house was also provided for one other family.
