The President of Georgia met with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State
The President of Georgia met with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State today. Georgian-American relations, strategic cooperation and parliamentary elections held in the country were the main topics of discussion during the meeting. According to Eric Rubin’s assessment, Georgia once again proved that the country has set a democratic course and the held elections as well as current processes are extremely important for its consolidation.
“Georgia was facing a challenge in terms of these elections. These elections did not have easy results for you. Georgia is having a hard time period right now. However this is extremely important for the Georgian democracy and you all understand this very well. It is your personal merit that what is happening in Georgia now is exemplary for the entire world. I was recently at the Geneva negotiations and the Russian side as well as separatists were under a big impression as a result of these elections” – said Eric Rubin to Mikheil Saakashvili.
The Deputy Assistant Secretary of State personally delivered a letter by Barrack Obama to the President of Georgia today. The letter emphasized the importance of the held parliamentary elections in Georgia in terms of democratic development of the country.
