The President of Georgia held a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan in Chicago today. Mikheil Saakashvili and Ilham Aliyev discussed the issues related to deepening political, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries as well as regional and international topics. The projects which are being implemented jointly by Georgia and Azerbaijan were among the most important topics of discussion. The two leaders touched on the issue of the events that occurred around the Davit Gareji Monastery complex and stated that the negotiations regarding this issue will continue within the scope of diplomatic talks and border commission meetings between the two countries. According to the leaders of Georgia and Azerbaijan, the relationship and cooperation of the two countries has great meaning not only for the two brother nations but for the entire region.
