The President of Georgia visited an ice palace in Kutaisi
The President of Georgia toured the newly-built ice palace, which is part of a modern sports complex, during his visit to Kutaisi. As Mikheil Saakashvili noted, considering the local climate conditions, such recreation centers will assist in reducing respiratory disease symptoms in children. The President also talked about the importance of future projects and noted that very soon modern ice rinks of Olympic standards will be built in Tbilisi and Zugdidi. “This is a realized dream of mine and of these children” – noted Mikheil Saakashvili while skating with children during his visit to the ice palace.
“There is poverty and unemployment all around. I just spoke with people of little means, but these children will come here every day and share innovations just as they do in Norway, Netherlands, England and America, and will grow up on a different psychology. Children are raised by a completely different mentality in our country” –noted the President. “Today adolescents have good computers and great classrooms, they play on good artificial fields and skate in ice rinks, all of which assures a healthy generation” – stated the President. The ice rink is stretched over a 600 square meter area. In addition to the ice rink, the sports complex consists of a gymnasium, massage rooms and well-accommodated shower rooms.
