The Spokesperson for the President of Georgia Manana Manjgaladze held a briefing

"A Georgian sailor Giorgi Shavishvili who was detained in Philippines is free and is already in his motherland, and most probably, when this statement is transmitted he will be at home with his family members, in Batumi", the Spokesperson noted and added that the President of Georgia shares this joy as well.

Manana Manjgaladze pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was actively involved in the sailors' case in Manila and worked according to the President's personal tasks.

Giorgi Shavishvili is one of 13 Georgian sailors who stayed in Philippines. They withdrew serious charges of 12 sailors about ten days ago after an active involvement of Georgian government, later they were released from illegal arrest. Giorgi Shavishvili was returned from Manila airport, he was wrongly identified as a captain. His status was identified after all.

"Almost nine-months illegal detainment came to an end, the President of Georgia welcomes this fact and shares his joy with all the sailors and their family members.

As for Kyrgyzstan the Georgian government observes the ongoing event in Bishkek with great concern.

The President of Georgia considers that it is up to Kyrgyz people to decide who must represent their government. It is evident and despite of Russian's denial according to all information available for us, Russia is getting involved in the internal affairs of Kyrgyzstan and tries to play geopolitical games. We call on every political force, among then those people who are controlling the capital not to let external forces use this situation for their personal interests against the fundamental interests of the country.
