Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will travel to the United Kingdom

On 23 April Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will travel to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for an official visit.

On 24 April President Saakashvili will give an interview to The Financial Times and The Times newspapers.

On 25 April he will meet the multi-partisan group of British MPs working on Georgia issues, which is headed by Bruce George. Within the framework of the visit, he will give a speech at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security entitled "New developments in the Caspian region and South Caucasus: the view from Georgia". He also plans to meet UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and Secretary of State for Defence Des Browne. That same day the president will hold briefing for media representatives.

On 26 April Saakashvili will meet the Chief Secretary of the Royal Treasury Stephen Timms, Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown and Minister of State for Europe in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Geoff Hoon. Towards the end of his visit he will be interviewed on the BBC television programme "Hard Talk".

President Saakashvili will return to Georgia on 27 April.
