Official statement by the Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Georgia
A hacker attack has been carried out on the official Facebook page of the President of Georgia. Messages were arriving at the personal page of the President of Georgia in large numbers and with basically the same content, in the evening hours of February 24.
The Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Georgia – Irma Nadirashvili made a statement regarding this issue. According to Irma Nadirashvili, this attack was carried out through the use of a special computer program. All of the statements sent to the Facebook page of Mikheil Saakashvili were written in Russian. The messages claimed that the President of Georgia is of Armenian descent and that his wife is cooperating with American special services. It was also said that the Georgian people are good and they should have a better President.
This is not the first case of a cyber attack on a Georgian official websites including the website of the President. The first time a large scale cyber attack was carried out was in 2008, several days before the war, when the Russian special services blocked the websites of Georgian governmental bodies.
