The President of Georgia opened a new profession college in Kobuleti

The President of Georgia opened the “New Wave” Profession College of modern standards  in Kobuleti. Mikheil Saakashvili met with the managers and students of the college and spoke to them about the importance of such education centers. During the meeting the Head of State touched on the issue of employment, which according to him is directly related to development of economy of the country, tourism, and the energy sphere. As Mikheil Saakashvili stated, tourism is geopolitics for Georgia; a guarantee of security and development. This is why as the President noted, it is necessary to educate and train qualified personnel and such centers have a decisive role in the process.

“Adjara had the worst food across the country. Varshalomidze worked a lot on this issue. He would go to restaurants and see menus himself. He brought foreign cooks and the result is achieved. In the past tourists were not satisfied, but now Batumi has delicious food everywhere. Moreover, 90% of the raw products used for making those dishes are local, even in the best restaurants. This indicator must reach 100%. Nobody had any idea if Georgian tea existed at all. It is incredible, but the products from our hothouses are being exported to Turkey. In the past we imported everything from Turkey. This means that if you desire, you can accomplish anything. They are planning to open several American restaurants in Georgia and if you learn a new profession and become qualified, you will definitely meet the demand. We should reach the state where our specialists won’t have an alternative on the market.” – stated the President of Georgia.

The new lab and a workshop, equipped with the newest technology, the needed inventory, and a modern high tech base are functional at the new college. A hotel type dormitory has also been built for the students. As of now, up to 500 students are registered at the college and the distribution of 1000 GEL vouchers is still going on.

The Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkin attended the opening with the President of Georgia.
