The President of Georgia toured one of the large scale aqua parks “Aqua Lazika”, with ministers in Anaklia today. Mikheil Saakashvili spoke about the importance of such places and noted that they represent a new opportunity for employment.

“There has been a lot of dispute and a notion that foreign infrastructure is not for Georgians. Of course this is for the people. These people were the poorest, and had the least prospects and there was a good reason for this; Russian bases were here for decades. Many hotels are being built now. First of all, most of the tourists are Georgian, the staff is Georgian, all of these hotels have been built by local residents and a lot of people will work here” – noted the President, who compared Anaklia to Svaneti in terms of infrastructure. – “This place has the same conditions that Mestia had. But a lot of prospects have appeared for people in many places, and this means thousands of employed persons. Kakheti has become a tourist center…so the economic geography of Georgia is changing” – noted the Head of State who added that “The Anaklia Aqua Park will be the highest quality entertainment center in Europe”

The new aqua park will have capacity to serve 800 guests. The Anaklia Aqua Park was designed by one of the largest companies in the world, “White Water West” from Canada, and it is one of the best in Eastern Europe in terms of size and amusements. It has the most modern safety measures. Up to 200 persons are employed at the construction and up to 150 will be employed permanently after it is opened.
