Mikheil Saakashvili opened the Avenue of Sheikh in Batumi

The President of Georgia opened the Avenue of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, in Batumi. Mikheil Saakashvili arrived at the new avenue with the Sheikh himself, whom the Head of State thanked for the help and attention towards Georgia.

“Al Nahyan has been my friend for many years, who is in his turn one of the most famous educators and reformers in the Arab world. I received the greatest gift of my life from him. We were walking in the most beautiful boulevard of Abu Dhabi and I was impressed by the palms. 3 days after, he loaded 3 largest Ukrainian airplanes with such palms and sent them to us. They are now decorating our boulevard. Moreover, in winter some of the palms faded and he sent a special representative and spent up to 100 thousand USD to revive the palms. This man has no property in Adjara; he wants nothing from us and he does not reproach us on anything. This is real philanthropy. He is quietly doing his work, great kindness, and he values what we are doing in order to develop our country. By the way, we have agreed that he will send us new breeds of trees so that this place will be turned into a beautiful garden. That is why, in order to honor him, the Batumi City Hall has decided to name this avenue after Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.” – noted Mikheil Saakashvili.

Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, who is the High Education and Scientific Research Minister of the United Arab Emirates, positively assessed the Georgian reforms and spoke about the great potential of the country.

“It is a great honor for me to be with President Mikheil Saakashvili on this beautiful boulevard. The economy of Georgia, infrastructure, and security has developed noticeably in recent times. The number of foreign investments also increased in recent years. This is the Presidents merit, because by his decision Georgia must become the safest place in the world. I think this country will definitely turn into a tourism center” – stated the Sheikh.

Mikheil Saakashvili and Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan symbolically opened the new monument representing the boulevard.

The Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Avenue is located at the intersection of Khimshiashvili and Leonidze streets.
