The President of Georgia met with the population of Varketili

The President of Georgia visited Varketili today, where he met with the local population. The implemented infrastructural projects and projects that are being planned were the main topic of discussion during the meeting. According to the President, all of these projects are oriented on bettering conditions for the population and creating jobs in the country.

“I would like to tell you that my objective is very concrete. The Georgian government, which I represent, had always refused and never served the interests of “handful” of people who were well positioned with every government during their entire life. Every government would only care about them: good education, good quality treatment, nice apartments and good roads had only belonged to them and their children. The government and parliaments had belonged to them as well, and no matter who would come to the government, they had to bow before them and do everything for them. In none of the epochs of Georgia did the government have enough time to create basic conditions for the hard-working and thoughtful Georgian people. That is why, no matter how many times the former elites gather, no matter how many times the former officials point fingers at us, I just do not care what they think, as they do not care about the rest of society. I am interested in what you think; I am interested in the opinion of those who have contributed the most to make this day possible, and who have been motivated the most throughout generations. That is why I would like to listen to you, but before that, I want to say couple of words.” – noted the President.

The President also assessed the visit of the Secretary of State of the United States to Georgia. He especially distinguished the fact that the US Administration is widening programs that will assist the development of defense and security capabilities of the country, and important projects are being planned between the two countries in this direction. As Mikheil Saakashvili stated, America has used the word “occupation” in regard to our territories and recognized the neutral status documents. According to him, the small population left in Abkhazia and South Ossetia will be able to travel to the United States and most of the world with the documents issued by Georgia.

The Head of State also noted that similar to Europe, the negotiations regarding a free trade agreement will begin with the United States. According to him, this will help attract more investments and accordingly people will have more employment opportunities.
