The President of Georgia visited those who were injured as a result of the explosion at the Republic Hospital of Batumi. The President expressed concern regarding their conditions and spoke to the doctors and the relatives of the injured. The Head of State promised them additional support if needed.

The explosion took place on the third floor of a 4 story building on Lermontov Street in Batumi as a result of an explosion of a gas container. Mikheil Saakashviil called on the population to be more careful and noted that like Tbilisi, Batumi should also have a special service which will observe the gasification process and ensure its secure function. The President of Georgia also ordered the Head of the Government of Adjara to restore the houses that have been damaged as a result of the explosion. As Levan Varshalomidze told the President, the Batumi Mayor’s office has already begun working on this issue and it will be handled shortly.
