The President of Georgia congratulated the members of the group “Candy” on their victor

The President of Georgia hosted the victorious group of Children’s Eurovision at the Presidential Palace and congratulated the members of the group “Candy” on their victory. The President talked with the children and wished them further success. The Head of State thanked the children’s producers and noted that such huge support of various countries in this competition is very important politically. Mikheil Saakashvili rewarded the members of the ensemble with IPods and “Yamaha” musical instruments. As a result of the decision of the President, the children will travel to London for three weeks in order to learn English.

“First of all I would like to congratulate all of you. You represent the new generation, the best face of the new Georgia with its diversity, childlike energy, and most importantly, talent. I am very pleased by your success. This victory was important, because the representatives of former Soviet Republics gave us the highest marks. Armenia and Belarus gave us 12 points each…This action was quite heroic from the side of Belarus, because the children from Belarus were your top competitors. This is really a huge expression of friendship from these people. We should not forget such things on a political as well as personal level. The relationship we have with Belarus in recent years, the backing they have shown during the toughest moments for us, is forever memorable. I would like to thank your producer – Bravo! This is a very successful project and it’s not a coincidence. We have turned winning into a habit and this is very good. I have an idea: to send you to London to study English during your school holidays” – the President stated to the members of the group.

In their turn, the members of the group “Candy” thanked the President and gave him their CD as a present. They also noted that going to London to study English was their dream and the President has made it come true.

The Georgian ensemble performed an original song at Children’s Eurovision hosted in Yerevan, where they became the most successful among 13 countries and took first place with 108 points.
